This year, the invitational racing group consisted of both the top elite- and the top sub-vet riders in the country. Due to this addition the group was very competitive and well over 300 riders.

The race started fast and furiously out of the morning darkness. Nerves were sky high and crashes were imminent throughout the opening few kilometres. The first of many crashes came, true to form, down hospital bend. Brothers Sport’s top rider, Lance, was caught in the crash along with many Bonitas riders. The head wind on the Blue route kept the field together and allowed the crash victims to return. “TV time” attacks came relentlessly from both sides of the road up until Boyes Drive.

Due to the fact that we as amateurs were racing against the biggest fish in South Africa, the four of us decided to save ourselves and stay sheltered until Chappies. This did not work out too well for PD as he was caught up in a crash just before the climb and failed to re-join the accelerating bunch before the climb. The race normally stays together up Chappies for the pro team sprinters but this year was very different. A small move escaped before Chappies and created a springboard for the climbers to jump across on the climb.

The race split at a time we didn’t expect and due to our small team, wrong positioning and a lack of pro rider assistance we were unable to bridge the gaps and move into the race winning bunch. Lance did however managed to make it over Suikerbossie with the pro’s while the rest of us had to just be happy with finishing in the next bunch.

Overall it was a good experience and a day we, as small fish in a pro pond, learnt a lot from!

Hi everyone!

Hopefully I can keep it short this time, but please allow me to give you a short report on the season we had as an Elite team.

Being our first full season starting in September and ending this past weekend with the Argus, we are very excited to be able to give you a good report.

Our season marked the entry of Christopher Esch and Paul-Dean Rorich to the team joining Leonardo van Onselen (C), Lance Muller and Ryan Kemp.

Spring 2011

Our first race was the Orbit Tour de Worcester where the team worked hard to get Leo in a breakaway group. Team tactics sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, but this time it was favourable for the Brothers. Leo went to the line with two other riders and with a remarkable sprint secured the first ever win for the Brothers!

The team also opted for experience and entered some of the bigger up country races like the Engen Series and Amashova. The highlights of these were the Amashova where 3 of the Elites managed to place within the top 20, and this being the third biggest race in the country!

The league had more to offer with the West Coast Express race, where it came down to a bunch sprint due to the flatter route. Again Leo lead the pack to claim the Brothers second win!

Then there was WP Champs and Die Burger where Lance showed himself as someone to be reckoned with in the Western Cape by getting silver at the champs and placing fourth in the Western Cape’s second biggest provincial race The Burger!

The Coronation Double Century was one of the highlight of the 2011 year with the Elite team placing third overall on the day, only to be contested later by another Cape Town team. Don’t worry, we will be back bigger and better!

Summer 2012

The summer of 2012 started off well with the team focusing on the overall team competition. The first podium came when Lance very cleverly saved himself in the Tour de PPA to go with an attack in the last 10km. Only two riders got away and Lance made sure he secured an excellent second place for his team!

In the Bouchaert Soenen race Chris went in a breakaway of four very early in the day. After a long day in the heat only three riders went for the line with Chris taking top honours! Another win for the team!

Other highlights are the 4th place of Ryan in the Medallion Tour de Stellenbosch and the combination of 5th and 8th in the very hilly Roller Coaster.

To top this the team managed to place third in the overall team competition, getting the first ever team podium!

Sponsors

Without our sponsors this would not have been possible.

Chris and Mari Brothers! Thank you for your amazing support and the great sponor you are to us. We truly appreciate it and look forward to many more seasons like the last.

A big thank you to Jay Osborne for being our manager, getting up at 04:00 on racedays to drive support and also supplying our FOCUS race machines. One Sunday morning he even left a long awaited Valentines weekend with his wife to come to the race. (With her permission off-course) Much appreciated Jay!

Thanks!

We so sincerely want to give thanks to our families, friends and followers! This has been a long and hard season where those closest to us were often the first to be neglected when training and racing were given first priority. We hope the above results give you an idea of the sacrifices that had to be made for the fruit to be harvested.

We love you, we love cycling and thank you everyone for your amazing support

Also a thank you to our God who has (and are) blessed us above expectation!

The TEAM! (Leo, Kempie, Lance, Esch, PD)

The race started off as a shock to the cold legs as Cape Town Market’s Theuns van der Bank took the first two kilometres as if it were his last two. Maybe he had something to prove after the Double Century or it was just his customary attack on this particular route.

Old Helshoogte was the first obstacle to cross and with a bunch of this stature and numbers you don’t need a prophet to tell you it was going to be hard! I say obstacle because the wind was howling the night before leaving the road looking like the Cape Town Stadium the day after a Premiership Football Game. Again the men in green dictated the pace until halfway up until Peter Lambert from RSA Web moved to front to make the pace hard but steady, eliminating any planned attacks in intensity. As the top of the new pass was reached a group of about 15 to 20 climbers went over together with Lance Muller and Paul-Dean Rörich representing the Brothers.

This group was however quickly chased down as the gap was nothing much to write home about, re-joining most of the bunch again. The norm for this part of the race is for teams to attack and attack again until a breakaway group is formed. PD took his usual position in the front of the pack covering the attacks from RSA Web (Red), CT Market (Green) and Daikin (Blue). Lance was also present carefully judging the bigger profile attacks and covering them. The men in Black (Brothers) had to make sure they are represented should a break get away; otherwise it will be their job to do the hard miles in chasing down the smaller bunch of carrots.

As the heat in the kitchen reached Fahrenheit numbers in a Celsius environment, Lance threw a hard attack. He went up the road with a red target of a podium at WP Champs on his back, drawing the needles from the haystack like a 100W speaker magnet. The peloton was not prepared to give him daylight and the bunch regrouped again. Then immediately Theuns attacked, David Garret (Dainkin) followed and Peter saw the potential of a successful break also joining. PD sat in the front of the bunch and quickly did the math, “green, blue, red…WHERE’S BLACK!” So putting his Focus into gear he quickly crossed the gap and completed the rainbow.

The break was hard work with most of the effort coming from blue and red. Blue knew his team was not up for a sprint finish win against the likes of pro rider Herman Fouche, so he had to give it his best. Red saw the chance for a podium and unselfishly gave his all to make this happen. Green however did not see why he had to do anything as he had the top sprinter in his team, sitting behind in the bunch. PD was just glad to be in a break of this stature and sacrificed himself to take the pressure of his team and also to bring his fair share of labour to the job at hand.

This is where green started to attack PD who seemed to be the weaker rider in the break. The gap reached 1:40 at a stage, before the men in green represented in the main bunch decided it was time to put down the pedal with some serious gutter winds blowing as the left Wellington.

Mean while back in the bunch RSA web put in a few attacks and caused a split which Jaco Venter and Lance bridged and soon after the bunch responded. It was on the R44 that guys put the hammer down, decimating the bunch. The right-hand gutter into oncoming traffic was aggressive and dangerous. This saw riders crashing into pedestrians and going “farming.” Lance got caught up in Stefan’s crash but luckily managed to reintegrate with front of the gutter formation with the help of MC. PD’s break was then caught 15km out by the select group of 10 riders or so. Lance thanked PD for his excellent contribution and MC and Lance took over “watch”. PD had allowed Lance to look after himself well in the bunch and enjoy a free ride. It was great riding from PD choosing the right move to go with and sticking it out while in spite of the aggressive riding from CTM.

The R44’s aggressive kick ups saw the pace surge as MC said his goodbyes after a great ride in the elite field being very unfortunate to puncture. Luckily he had his saddle bag with a spare tube; else it was up to the thumb to get him home. Then with 5km to go PD also punctured as he followed shortly behind the leaders over the last rolling hill. This left Lance as the last man standing to fly the Brother’s flag high in the streets of Stellenbosch. Carl Pasio went off the front from 9km to 1km mark and CTM did a Lions share of chasing. Carl had a mechanical on the final left corner with one km to go destroying his chances. Lance, being known more as a climber than a sprinter, knew it was a waiting game for this sprint and perhaps waited too late and walked away with 4th. Just off the podium but a respectable finish given the presence of the CTM JHB pro’s still down for the DC the previous week. The top 4 home read as follows.

Herman Fouche

Jaco Venter

Charles Solomons

Lance Muller

Well done guys, and a “Get Well Soon” note to the Brothers who were the victims of a devastating crash over the railway lines. As the lyrics of the song goed, Relax, take it e-a-sy!

Ryan Kemp was assigned to briskly take the team out of the twists and turns of the beautiful town of Swellendam, safely to the top of that first riser just as one turns onto the N2. The team consisting of 4x Elite Brothers, 2x Sub-Vet Brothers and 6 professional riders all dynamically started to roll through establishing a rhythm of 1 minute turns at the front, ensuring a high and steady pace. After all, this team was aiming for the stars, expecting to land on the podium!

It was a clear run towards the Tradouw Pass, with the only team surging their pace in attempt to stay connected being the Daiken Vets team. That was short lived and we began the accent of the very deceiving Tradouws. We climbed well and kept our bigger lads out of the red zone, knowing that size does matter on the flats and rollers to come. Some of the less experienced social teams did not play the same game when they were asked to keep left for the faster teams to pass, which created some frustration up front, but hey…nothing that we couldn’t handle!

Descending the first part of the pass with fast; sweeping and flowing bends saw us maintain our position with Cape Town Market closing the starting gap from the gun vigorously! By the time they caught us at the start of Op de Tradouw they had already lost two men, with another to fall soon after. We climbed our own collective rhythm and again kept our bigger boys in the clear.

On top of Op de Tradouw riders quickly grabbed a bottle or two of water as the first feeding zone was still an hour or so down the road. The rolling decent got faster and faster as it approached Montague with speeds of between 80 and 90kph being recorded for the day. This is where we passed our Brothers Sport Sub-Vet Team which mutually lifted both teams’ spirits, with a quick joke or two being part of sharing the love! This is where Kempo had to hark back Lance to focus on his race as Lance almost got wedged in trying to convince the older Brothers to allow him to also race with an 11-25 cassette, which is a Sub-Vet prerogative only. And just to give a tip for those readers at home who do not have run-flat tyres on their cars; the road surface through this area is less than perfect…

Erik Saayman, our sub-Sub-Vet in the team, aka Oupa (Afrikaans for “Grandpa” or “elderly man”), almost made a premature exit before we fed with our Mussets (those material bags used for feeding on the go) with what we must say, an AWESOME support team! And soon after it was time for the Auricon team to be reeled in by what we would later learn was not the warm welcome we at first anticipated. We passed them, then they passed us, and it was just an irritation when two or three other teams also joined in the game. Do not underestimate the power of competitiveness in these top teams!

The next section from Ashton towards Bonnievale was where the team took the most strain on the day. An aggressive head wind blowing in our faces, enthusiasm dropping and bodies fatiguing like a bad hedge fund. There was however one incident worth mentioning. This is where Dusty punctured his front wheel just after he rolled through to the back. So the second last team member was Oupa, and with just enough air in his wheel Dusty pulled up next to Oupa saying “Oupa, ek het ‘n puncture!” Hmmm, no response from Oupa. So he raised his voice a few decibels “OUPA EK HET ‘N PUNCTURE!!”. By the time his lungs and wheel were deprived of all air, he drifted back and got sucked into the crowds, almost like one being pulled into a big Tsunami. Dusty could almost see the satisfied grin on the back of Oupa’s head, being mature enough to use excuses like “selective hearing”.

Back to the race, Daiken eventually passed us with 50km to go which placed the Brothers in third on the road, with CT Market still in first.

This is where Kempy called it a day, a very well deserved day, when he swung off after doing great service from the gun, on the climbs and also picking up the pace every time he went through. This left the final person to drop being PD, just before the final right turn. The majority of the pace work set by Lance and HB Kruger. Lance paced up all the climbs as to not let the pace drop, while HB and Lance rotated with short hard turns on the descent keeping the speed high.

Final effort to the line saw MC and Lance along with four of our pro’s summit the last riser as we all crossed the line with our heads held high, later to find out we had pulled off a very respectable 3rd place! So, for the young riders reading this, aim for the top and you may actually hit it, or you may hit 3rd!!!

Lance “I’ll ride a gap while pushing you” Muller

So please allow us to very humbly thank our sponsors for the great opportunities they create for us. Brothers Sport for believing in us, telling the race organisers we WILL get a podium (no pressure), and also financially supporting us just as amazingly as are their belief in our abilities. If we can be the riders they believe we are, we would certainly be unstoppable! Then our friend and manager Jay Osborne who showed us the magic of Focus Bikes! I can still hear the voices of the social teams chanting on the road “FOCUS Brothers!” We and they love the Focus, no holding back. Then also our new friends from Matlosana, ASG and Johan van Zyl. You guys were great, we really had a wonderful time racing together and we shared so many unforgettable jokes and stories around the dinner table. Once again, thanks!

News Article published on www.cyclenation.co.za & www.bicycling.co.za

With some serious fire-power in their line-up, the aspirations of the Brothers Sport Elite team for the 2011 Coronation Double Century are no secret:

“We are aiming for a spot at the top”.

The Brothers Sport elite team is joined by professional rider Johann van Zyl (SA U/23 Road and TT Champ, 2010 & 2011), as well as 5 professional riders from the Matlosana West-Vaal Pro Cycling team namely Dusty Day, Pieter Seyffert, Shaun-Nick Bester, HB Kruger and Donovan Lubbe.

The Brothers Sport and Matlosana teams met while competing at the Engen series and Amashova races in Port-Elizabeth and Durban this season. Captain Leonardo van Onselen, on behalf of the Brothers Sport team, extended a warm welcome to the professional riders of the Matlosana team and their management, noting as follows:

“We have a well-balanced group of riders on board who know each other; this will be one of our main strengths.

“Racing for a podium in arguably the toughest race on the South African calendar is a lot to ask of any team, given that racing conditions on the day will always be a critical factor. In the course of competing in the Western Cape, Brothers Sport has developed significant respect for the other teams competing, such as Daiken Gu, Cape Town Market, RSA Web and Anderson Transport. Competition on the day promises to be tough. However, come race day, each rider will have to put in maximum effort to achieve the team’s goals; no-one will hold anything back. We wish them all the very best”.

Brothers Sport elites are lining up as follow:

Johann van Zyl

Dusty Day

HB Kruger

Shaun-Nick Bester

Donovan Lubbe

Pieter Seyffert

Leonardo van Onselen (C)

Lance Muller

Ryan Kemp

Paul-Dean Rorich

MC Dreyer

Christopher Esch

Riding alongside the Brothers Sport Elites team is the Brothers Sport Sub-Vets team. The Brothers Sport Sub-Vets also welcomes to their ranks 5 guest riders from the Mr. Price and Cycle Lab teams of Kwa-Zulu Natal. This collaboration was cemented at the Amashova and Msunduzi races in Durban and Pietermaritzburg earlier this season. The riders from the KZN teams include well-known names such as Werner Moolman, Emile Fouche, Brian Crusack, Sean Merredew and Mark Davel. We look forward to see how their mantra: “Older legs race better over longer distances”, plays out at the Double Century.

Despite being a relatively new team on the road, the Brothers Sport elites and sub-vets have posted some good results this past season. They look forward to go up against the best at the Coronation Double Century 2011.

It promises to be a very interesting race.

After many delays, the date for the WP champs was finally fixed for Friday the 5th of November. Due to the uncertainties the only Sub-Vets pre-entered a week prior to the event were MC & Andre. This would not stand; so the troops were rounded and everybody was committed to fly the flag at the race. The course suited MC’s riding strengths and we knew that if we could protect him there may be a chance for a medal. But the pre-race excitement was nearly extinguished when we learned that PPA closed entries a day before. Luckily more people were in the same boat and public opinion/pressure convinced the powers that be to extend the entry period. The Brothers were now ready & willing to tackle the champs!

The race only started at 11:45; so it allowed for some extra sleep on the Saturday. The senior citizens in the team welcomed this especially. The weather gods unfortunately decided to crash the party and as we cycled from the cars to the start line it was impossible not to appreciate a very strong wind that whipped across the plains of the Agter-Paarl. The already difficult route littered with long rollers now promised extra pain with the prospect of many gutters. Only MC was smiling!

A smallish group of 35-40 riders set off from the start, but with 2 podium finishers from the previous week’s Msunduzi challenge (a virtual SA champs) included in the line up, the competition was going to be very stiff. The title would be contested over 3 laps, consisting of 2 longer circuits and a shorter final lap that included the short but tough Paardeberg climb. The first 15 kilometres was into the strong headwind and except for a few half hearted accelerations the pace was not very high.

Heading of into the wind. Andre battling up front & Henk (our trusted support rider) marking the back.

As the group took the first turn from the R45 back towards Paardeberg, the headwind switched to a side wind and the first serious attacks were launched. Robby Rodrigues opened a gap of about 30 meters and was soon joined by 2 other riders. Ivor immediately spotted the danger and put his head down to bridge the gap and join the break.

Ivor joins the first break of the day. The peloton is just visible in the distance

This now allowed the rest of the Brothers to sit back and it was up to Anderson Transport support riders to limit the damage. Despite their efforts the 4 upfront worked well together and slowly increased their lead to more than a minute.

As the main peloton crested the last long roller about 5 km before the T-junction, the wind hit us from behind at a 45 degree angle as it whipped around Paardeberg. Any experienced cyclist knew what this means; very little slipstream and the opportunity to everybody in the gutter on the left hand side of the road. The favourites moved to the front and put the hammer down. Speeds in excess of 55km/h were maintained as we rounded the last turn taking us back to the start finish line.

Everyone was scrambling for wheels as the peloton screamed back on the home straight, now with a tail wind. Andy Davies & John Wakefield were prominent at the front and a number of riders probably wished they were rather away in the break. It was not fun in the main peloton any more. The high tempo reduced the gap on the break-away and everything came back together just after we rounded the turn at the Wellington 4-way stop.

Rich, the man with the best slip in town, gives Dusty Day a helping hand in the gutter

Well if we say everything – it means what was left of the field. For the first time in 20 km’s there was a chance to take a slight breather, look over the shoulder and realise that the starting group of 35+ was reduced to not many more than 15 riders. The murderous pace and gutter riding had decimated the field and only the strongest were left standing. To crown it all, Anderson Transport as well as Aurecon had lost all their support riders. It was only Brothers Sport & Cape Storm that still had 4 riders in contention. The “Wolf” also proofed that his legs were back –despite a few painful expressions it was clear the gutters might have left him slightly shaken, but definitely not stirred.

Robby Rodrigues jumped away again on the next rise, but although brave, it was not a wise attack. Nobody followed and the experienced Cape Storm team just managed the gap. This meant that one of the pre-race favourites was allowed to expend his energy in the wind with little gains. The serious attacking again resumed after we turned from the R45 back towards Paardeberg. Stuart Strang from Cape Storm, John Wakefield from Anderson & especially Andy Davies took turns to launch a number of very hard attacks. But with the advantage of numbers, Erik just “planted” himself in the first 5-6 riders and followed all the wheels. This allowed MC to take a back seat and conserve his considerable powers. The downwind section back to the finish was again raced at high speed, but not at the same devastating intensity as the first lap.

Now it was time to launch the Brothers team plan. Leonardo & MC discussed a plan to look for an opportunity just after crossing the finish line for the last lap. The riders normally sit up and wait for the last Paardeberg climb on the final short loop. As we neared the incline towards the finish Davis & Wakefield again attacked as predicted with Erik following 3rd wheel. The moment they crested the climb and sat up to take a breather; Erik could just smile as he noticed a black shape shooting past on the left. MC was away!

MC Dreyer – a.k.a. “The Machine” powers away on his solo break.

With the hard attack up the climb, the bunch was stretched in a long line and the instigators had isolated themselves. There was nobody that could assist to counter MC’s move and Erik could just play patrolman on their back wheels. The fight was out of the big dogs and MC slowly increased his lead. As we turned to the final hard climb of the day everybody looked at one anther as predicted and this allowed MC to increase his lead even further. Ivor & Erik also did not help the cause at all, by coming through to “help” with the pacemaking and then soft pedalling to ensure the average dropped by a couple of km/h. MC was riding like a machine up-front and was earning big respect in the peloton. It was beginning to look as if he might just stay away.

Then we hit the notorious Paardeberg climb that everybody was waiting for. Andre was now playing a sport psychologist role, giving Erik instructions and motivational speeches on how he will not let them get away. Wakefield again kicked hard halfway up the climb and opened a small gap, but he was chased down by Davis with the now fully motivated Erik hanging on the back wheel like a leech. About 4 riders crested the climb together and for the first time it became apparent that the aggressive riding was taken its toll. The big favourites were tired and looking for assistance, but with MC away they were not getting any from a Brothers team mate. This allowed the rest of the field to re-integrate and resume the chase. Unfortunately the hard attack up the climb had halved MC’s lead, but he still had a chance.

The big attack is launched up the climb, but despite breaking up the field temporarily, he is not able to shake Erik

The chase slowly brought MC back while the rest off the Brothers just sitting in the back holding thumbs & wishing the kilometres to pass. Unfortunately the finish line was just 5 km to far away and to the great disappointment of the team MC was caught. Still, a brilliant effort and oh so VERY close!

We were on the last 3 kilometres and only a sprint to the line at the top of a small climb of about 800m remained. Again Andre, now assisted by a tired MC, turned to motivational speakers and INFORMED Erik that the finish suites his riding strengths and that he will not get dropped. The big acceleration happened about halfway up the climb and Andre shot from the left to give Erik a lead out. He managed to drag him across to just within a couple of meters of the third place rider. A quick glance back confirmed that there was nobody left and the line was only 100 meters away. There was no way that this opportunity and all the hard work by the team could be made undone and with a last big effort Erik managed to power past a very disappointed Johan Kruger to snatch the 3rd place medal.

Its medal time and there are 2 Saaymans on the podium. Willie & Erik celebrate after the race

A great ride by all the Brothers riders and so close for MC. We all have renewed confidence and it is only a matter of time before the Bronze turns into Gold!

The Brothers together!

Format: 2 x 40km laps, 2 x 25km laps

Start Time: 12:00

Conditions: Moderate to strong wind and overcast

Field Size: 45 – 50

The three Brothers Lance Muller, Ryan Kemp and PD Rorich lined up at the Windmeul Primary school near Wellington to compete in the 2011 WP Champs Road Race.

As they took the first left turn towards Wellington, Kempie did some pace work to humour the strong and unforgiving cross wind from the left. With the field having one or two soft dips, the customary Pick ‘n Pay rider went off the front here and there only to be reeled in without any fireworks being wasted. The next turn saw a left hand gutter and PD doing some great work closing a soft move that rolled off the front containing Quinn and Garret. After that was contained PD continued to pace looking to protect Lance on the back stretch main riser. Unfortunately at that point PD lost his chain off the back and had to stop to get it working again. Lance attempted to maintain a steady controlled tempo to prevent any attacks from going off the front, in attempt to give PD a chance to reintegrate the bunch.

Soon after this went down, Quinn rolled off the front again. This time Lance was on him like a hound dog on a rabbit trying to earn the friendship of Elvis. He was not the only one racing to become the Western Province King as one or two other “heads of state” also began to rock and roll. This would turn out to be the band playing the curtain closer for the day. They were:

Stefan Ihlenfeldt – Intellibus

Jaco Venter – Accent Jobs

Lance Muller – Brothers Sport

Chritiaan Kriek – Maties

Hansom Rob Quinn – Racing Republic

Moolman Welgemoed – Daiken GU

Pick ‘n Pay Rider (name unknown)

There was only one idol that seemed to have missed the auditions and now had to play some hard catch up music to make the finals. It was Dave Garret (Daikin) with singing spokes and duet partner JP Jacobs (Anderson Transport) fighting to get back in the competition. They did some hard miles to regroup with the lead seven just before the major climb of the first short loop of 25km.

Jaco Venter took a shot at king and launched an attack on that big climb shaking off the Pick ‘n Pay rider, Moolies and JP. Venter was reeled in, but not too close as he was to pay for his attack by being left to hang out and dry for a while. Stefan was the next one to pick the crown on the rollers before the final T junction heading towards the start of the final lap. Moolies was yo-yoing off the back all the time, amazingly coming back every time. How does he do that? They kept rolling well until the last big climb on the final lap, when Jaco went again to play the gutter guitar on the last climb before the final turn. Everyone managed to keep to their tune as they stayed together for the curtain closer.

The racing was exciting and tense at the same time, with everyone watching each other like a hawk! Quinn tried to rock and roll off the front numerous times on the gentle uphill drag with no success. It was at the start of the two rollers that Quinn and Garret rolled off the front and Lance brought them back with Stefan on his wheel. All came back together like a Rolling Stone concert reunion. At the start of the penultimate roller, Stefan went and everyone played it cool trying to force the others to play their cards… Jaco, the only one to respond, took the opportunity to jump the group and go after Stefan alone. Lance and Kriek were looking at each other playing the waiting game and trying to force the other one to chase. Kriek went and Lance jumped onto his wheel, by this time Stefan was over the line and Kriek had gone too late to contend Jaco’s second place. Lance was able to play off Kriek’s wheel and take 3rd place overall; which boiled down to a Silver Medal in the Elite cat!

A big thank you to Chris and Mari Brothers (Brothers Sport) and also Jay Osborne (Focus Bikes) for your amazing support and belief in us! Also thanks to Ronel from Torque Pics for the photo’s, we LOVE seing you next to the road at every race!
